May 2025 Traffic Results: 3,884,572 passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (+3.7%) and 2,900,976 passengers at Vienna Airport (+2.0%)

Growth in the month of May 2025: total passenger volume in the entire Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) rose by 3.7% from the prior-year level to 3,884,572 travellers, whereas Vienna Airport reported a 2.0% increase year on year to 2,900,976 passengers.
The number of local passengers at Vienna Airport in climbed 3.3% compared to May 2024 to 2,272,453 travellers, whereas transfer passenger traffic fell to 576,180 travellers, comprising a drop of 9.7% from the previous year. The number of flight movements in May 2025 increased slightly by 0.5% year-on-year to 21,828 take-offs and landings. Cargo volume totalled 27,945 tonnes, an increase of 14.7% from the comparable figure in May 2024.
Details on passenger traffic
In May 2025, passenger traffic from Vienna Airport to Western Europe fell slightly by 1.0% from the previous year to 992,220 passengers. The number of passengers flying to Eastern Europe in May 2025 amounted to 250,803 travellers (+1.5%). Vienna Airport reported a total of 40,915 passengers flying to North America (-4.1%), and 24,620 to Africa (-7.4%). Passenger traffic to destinations in the Middle East equalled 67,564 travellers (+1.0%) in May 2025, whereas passenger volume to the Far East was up to 48,256 travellers, comprising a year-on-year increase of 32.7%.
The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG also developed very well. Passenger volume at Malta Airport showed a rise of 8.1% to 927,709 travellers in the month of May 2025. Kosice Airport handled a total of 55,887 passengers, which represents a significant increase of 30.7% from the prior-year month.
Accumulated passenger volumes from January to May 2025: +3.2% at Vienna Airport and +5.5% in the Flughafen Wien Group
The total number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the period January to May 2025 increased by 3.2% from the previous year to the accumulated figure of 11,727,957 passengers. Total cargo volume from January-May 2025 equalled 128,224 tonnes, a rise of 10.2% from the previous year. Passenger volume in the entire Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in this five-month period was up 5.5% to 15,566,977 travellers.
