A greater variety of destinations is now being offered at Vienna Airport. Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, once again links Vienna with Sharjah starting today, 20 December 2024. Accordingly, it is now possibly to fly directly to the city on the Persian Gulf again. An Airbus A320 aircraft is being deployed on the Vienna-Sharjah route. Air Arabia terminated this flight connection due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now back at Vienna Airport. Flight service on this route was officially resumed today in the presence of Etienne Berchtold, Austrian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Michael Tauschmann, Head of Markets Middle East & India at the Austrian National Tourist Office, Shahzad Naqvi, Area Manager Air Arabia and Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, within the context of a photo session.

“Air Arabia is bringing a special gift to Vienna shortly before Christmas, namely the return of a direct flight connection to Sharjah! Accordingly, a major airline has been lured back to Vienna Airport and the flight connection offered by the largest low-cost carrier in the region to one of the most important flight hubs in the Arab world has resumed. The Vienna-Sharjah route serves a dynamic market and offers excellent transfer connections to international travellers. Passengers travelling from Austria can head for the sun whereas guests from the Emirates can experience the festive atmosphere of Vienna. With the return of Air Arabia, we are continuing our successful cooperation,” says Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

We are delighted to strengthen our presence in Europe, and the addition of Vienna to our growing list of cities reflects our dedication to providing affordable, convenient and memorable travel experiences for our customers”.
