The Zugvogel is back: the popular panorama restaurant at Vienna Airport now welcomes guests again in a new design

The first Costa Coffee outlet in Austria and a new Burger King restaurant at Vienna Airport starting in mid-April

Here waiting time flies by. Starting today, Thursday, 30 March 2023, travellers in Restaurant “Zugvogel” (migratory bird) will once again be able to experience the spectacular panorama view of aircraft and even enjoy new features. At the heart of the reopened restaurant there is an open kitchen in which food is freshly prepared in front of the guests. The interior design is impressive. Plants on the walls and a ceiling construction consisting of more than 700 plastic birds create a feel-good oasis and enable people to completely forget the typical hustle and bustle at the airport. The menu appeals to all tastes, including traditional Wiener schnitzel, international burger creations and vegan dishes. The panorama restaurant Zugvogel is open every day effective immediately from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. It is located in the shopping plaza of Terminal 2 at Vienna Airport. Other new culinary highlights at the airport are the Burger King restaurant which will soon open in the arrival hall as well as the very first Austrian outlet of the international coffee band Costa Coffee.

“We are continually expanding our food and beverage offering at Vienna Airport in cooperation with our partners. Thanks to the modernised panorama restaurant Zugvogel, a new Burger King outlet and Austria’s first Costa Coffee site, we now offer our passengers new culinary offerings in collaboration with Lagardère Travel Retail. We wish all our passengers a relaxed stay and good appetite!”, says Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

“After months of construction and a planning phase lasting close to two years, we are opening the Restaurant Zugvogel today, resplendent in its new design, for the benefit of our airport guests. We are very pleased with the new Zugvogel, Austria’s very first Costa Coffee site and an additional Burger King outlet. In this way, we can significantly contribute towards improving the quality of the time people spend at Vienna Airport,” states Ursula Fürnhammer, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Austria.

A feel-good oasis in the middle of the terminal: Zugvogel appears in a new design
At the Restaurant Zugvogel, the panorama view of the aircraft is not the only eye-catcher. The restaurant offers an open kitchen, a well-stocked bar and an ultramodern ambience. The playful furnishings allow guests to forget the hustle and bustle at the airport, and the interior was even partially sustainably renovated. Chairs, benches and tables were newly upholstered and thus upgraded. The restaurant looks radiant in its completely new design and offers passengers a place of retreat and a feel-good oasis in the middle of terminal operations. The menu caters to various needs and tastes but does not do without traditional dishes such as Wiener schnitzel, burgers and pizza. Moreover, breakfast is also offered. The Restaurant Zugvogel is located in the shopping plaza of Terminal 2 with daily opening hours from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

In the near future: Costa Coffee and Burger King at Vienna Airport
In mid-April, Lagardère Travel Retail will expand its food and beverage offering at Vienna Airport. Costa Coffee, a brand which is already strongly represented internationally has chosen Vienna Airport as its first site in Austria. The modern coffee shop will be located directly opposite the baggage claim area in the arrival hall. Right next to it one will find the next international star i.e., Burger King is opening up a new restaurant, also in the arrival hall, in addition to its other restaurant in Terminal 1.
