November 2017 Traffic Results: Increase in Passenger Volume of the Flughafen Wien Group to 2.2 Million (+2.6%)
 
The total number of passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport, Kosice Airport) in November 2017 rose by 2.6% to 2.2 million travellers. The accumulated passenger volume in the period January-November 2017 showed an increase of 7.2% to 28.7 million. Vienna Airport also developed positively, with the total number of passengers up 4.7% from January to November 2017.

The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the month of November 2017 was down by 0.1% compared to the prior-year month to 1,765,579 travellers. The number of local passengers was up by 0.8%, whereas transfer passenger volume dropped by 2.6%. In November 2017, the number of flight movements fell slightly by 0.3% in a year-on-year comparison. Cargo volume at Vienna Airport showed an increase of 2.8% from the comparable level of November 2016.  
 
The total number of passengers at Vienna Airport flying to destinations in Eastern Europe was up 1.7% in November 2017, in contrast to the 0.5% decline in passenger traffic to Western Europe. In November 2017, the number of passengers travelling to the Far East increased by 18.3% from the prior-year month, whereas passenger volume to Middle Eastern destinations decreased by 10.0%. The number of passengers travelling to North America was down by 13.6%, but passenger traffic to Africa developed positively, rising by 47.3%.  
 
Malta Airport reported strong growth in passenger volume of 15.8% in the month of November 2017, and Kosice Airport also showed a gratifying year-on-year rise of 6.8% in the number of passengers it handled.
