Vienna Airport: Volotea Launches Flights to Marseille and Nantes in 2017

The Spanish airline Volotea will inaugurate flight connections to Marseille and Nantes starting with summer schedule 2017. The airline will offer two weekly flights to both cities in France.

“The low-cost segment is an important growth driver at Vienna Airport. Volotea is very well positioned in this segment, especially in France, but also in numerous other European countries. “Thanks to the new flight connections to Nantes and Marseille, Vienna Airport is able to further expand its portfolio of destinations offered to travellers”, says Julian Jäger, Member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG, who is pleased with the new airline operating out of Vienna Airport. “As of summer 2017, ten French destinations will be directly accessible from Vienna. More than 807,000 passengers already flew from Vienna to France in the period January to September 2016, comprising a 4.4% rise in passenger volume. On the basis of the new flights offered by Volotea, we expect further growth in passenger traffic to this region in the coming year”, he adds.

Twice weekly to Nantes and Marseille
The new flight connection to Nantes starts in April 2017, and will be served on Mondays and Fridays deploying an Airbus A319. The flights to Marseille will commence on April 2017, featuring a Boeing 717 flying to the city on Thursdays and Sundays. Nantes, located in the Region Pays de la Loire, is one of France’s most dynamic centers for culture and art. Numerous former factories and warehouses have been turned into cultural meeting places. Marseille, with 855,393 inhabitants, is the second largest city in France, offering visitors a rich cultural heritage and a history dating back 2,600 years. Marseille is the oldest city in France, but has maintained its authentic village character over the centuries.
