Inaugural landing at Vienna Airport for the LOT Polish Airlines Boeing B787 Dreamliner

The new LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner will land in Vienna for the first time on Monday, 17 December 2012. The landing is scheduled for 9.00 am, with departure for the next destination at 9.50 am. LOT Polish Airlines is the first European carrier to use this state-of-the-art passenger jet, which will service the Warsaw-Vienna route on a regular basis. In December 2012 the Dreamliner is expected to land seven times in Vienna.

Experience the Dreamliner live: free visitor tours of the apron

Vienna Airport has a number of opportunities for aviation fans who would like to experience the visit of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner live: on 17 December 2012 the VISITAIR Center is offering free tours of the apron up to the aircraft’s parking position, which will provide a close-up view of the jet on the apron. Registrations are required and can be made by calling 01/7007-22150.

Impressive view of the apron from the visitor terrace

In addition, the visitor terrace on the roof of Check-in 3 will be open from 8.00 am to 11.00 am on 17 December 2012. This vantage point will give visitors a glimpse of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner during its short stay as well as a wide-ranging overview of the entire airport apron. Tickets for the visitor terrace cost EUR 2 for adults and children. Payment directly on the terrace can only be made with ATM or credit card, while cash payments are also accepted in the VISITAIR Center in Office Park 1.

Environmentally friendly Dreamliner with greater comfort

LOT Polish Airlines is the first European carrier to use the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner and will operate five aircraft of this type. Starting in early 2013, the Dreamliner will be used regularly on LOT’s long-haul flights. This passenger jet is currently the most modern aircraft of its type in the world and offers even greater comfort with wider isles, larger windows and improved cabin air. The lighting system simulates day- and night-time and, in this way, helps to minimise jetlag. The reduction of negative environmental effects was an important objective in the development of the Dreamliner: on long-haul flights the machine, which can carry up to 330 passengers, will use up to 20 per cent less fuel than conventional models. The newly developed engines also produce fewer acoustic emissions and thereby play an important role in reducing flight noise.
