August 2025 Traffic Results: 4,606,219 passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (+3.7%) and 3,407,359 passengers at Vienna Airport (+2.3%)

The Flughafen Wien Group reported a positive development in the month of August 2025. Total passenger volume in the entire Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) rose 3.7% year-on-year to 4,606,219 travellers. Passenger traffic at Vienna Airport climbed 2.3% to 3,407,359 in August 2025, the highest number of passengers handled by the airport in one single month in its entire history. On 3 August 2025, Vienna Airport recorded a total of 121,905 passengers, also a new all-time high for one day (2024: 115,989).
The number of local passengers at Vienna Airport climbed 1.9% compared to August 2024 to 2,625,316 travellers, whereas transfer passenger traffic was up 1.1% from the previous year to 755,154 travellers. The number of flight movements in August 2025 increased to 23,227 take-offs and landings (+1.9%). Cargo volume totalled 25,402 tonnes, comprising an increase of 5.6% from the comparable figure in August 2024.
Details on passenger traffic
In August 2025, passenger traffic from Vienna Airport to Western Europe fell slightly by 0.1% from the previous year to 1,145,670 passengers. The number of passengers flying to Eastern Europe amounted to 286,760 travellers (+3.1%). Vienna Airport reported a total of 57,555 passengers flying to North America (-3.8%), and 30,165 travellers to Africa (-0.7%). Passenger traffic to destinations in the Middle East were up 16.2% to 86,410 travellers. The airport registered strong passenger growth to the Far East, with passenger traffic up 14.9% to 61,302 passengers.
The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG also continued to develop positively. Passenger volume at Malta Airport showed a rise of 9.1% to 1,072,390 travellers in the month of August 2025. Kosice Airport handled a total of 126,470 passengers, which represents an increase of 0.9% from the prior-year month.
Accumulated passenger volumes from January to August 2025: +1.8% at Vienna Airport and +3.9% in the Flughafen Wien Group
The total number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the period January to August 2025 increased by 1.8% from the previous year to the accumulated figure of 21,427,535 passengers. Total cargo volume from January-August 2025 equalled 207,497 tonnes, a rise of 8.7% from the prior-year level. Passenger volume in the entire Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in this eight-month period was up 3.9% to 28,656,085 travellers.
