Stopover by new Lufthansa Airbus A380 at Vienna International Airport
On Wednesday, 2 June 2010, the new Lufthansa Airbus A380 will make a brief stopover in Vienna. The airliner is expected to land at Vienna International Airport between 10.30 and 11.00 am, and will take off again at 1.00 pm.
Flughafen Wien AG is offering aviation fans a number of opportunities to experience this visit live: The VISITAIR Center will conduct special A380 tours from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm, which will include a direct view of the Airbus on the apron. Vienna International Airport is organising these special VISITAIR tours free of charge, and registrations can be made by calling 01/7007-22150.
Car park 4 also provides an outstanding view of the A380 parking position on the airport apron. From 8.00 am to 2.00 pm on Wednesday, 2 June 2010, parking in car park 4 is also free of charge.
With a length of 73 metres and a wingspan of nearly 80 metres, the Airbus A380 is the largest civilian long-haul aircraft in the world and the first modern jet with two complete decks. A cargo area is located under the main deck, and extends across the entire fuselage. The Airbus A380 has a number of useful innovations: larger passenger and cargo capacity, a longer range that permits non-stop flights and, according to Airbus, a lower noise level than a Boeing 747. These advantages benefit not only passengers and the airlines, but also airports and neighbouring residents.
