If you are travelling to an exotic country, you should pay special attention to health considerations. Drugs to prevent malaria, insect repellent for skin and clothing and a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide are available.
Travel thrombosis, as it is called, can occur on long journeys because of the limited mobility.
Important preventive measures:
- drink plenty of fluids
- move your legs so as to stimulate the blood circulation
- wear travel stockings
Pregnant women and persons with circulation problems are at particular risk. In certain cases it might be advisable, after consultation with your doctor, to take anticoagulants before embarking on very long flights.
