The Medical Centre at Vienna Airport is manned around the clock by a qualified nurse, two medical orderlies and an emergency doctor (there is a charge for night calls between 22:00 and 08:00).

There are a total of 32 defibrillators at Vienna Airport for emergency cases. 2 professional devices in the Medical Centre and 30 public access defibrillators (AED devices) distributed on site.

You should carefully plan any trip to an exotic country with regard to different medical preventive measures. Please obtain information on recommended and legally specified vaccinations for your destination country around 6 to 8 weeks before travelling. Our Medical Centre also offers vaccinations to protect against infections and other health risks to ensure that you comply with the regulations or recommendations in the various countries. The costs of vaccinations can be obtained from the Airport Medical Centre on the telephone number above. Don't forget to bring your vaccination certificate and signed vaccination information sheet with you!!!

Available vaccinations in the Medical Centre: Yellow fever, typhoid fever, rabies, Hepatitis A and B (also for children), malaria, TBE, influenza, combination vaccinations (diphtheria, polio, tetanus, pertussis)

Malaria prophylaxis

Medications for malaria prophylaxis, mosquito repellent for skin and clothing and mosquito nets impregnated with insecticide are in stock.

Trombosis prophylaxis

So-called travel thrombosis can develop on long journeys due to a lack of movement.

Important preventive measures:

  • Drink plenty of fluids

  • Leg exercises to stimulate blood circulation

  • Wear travel stockings

Pregnant women and persons with circulation problems are at particular risk. In certain cases it might be advisable, after consultation with your doctor, to take anticoagulants before embarking on very long flights.

You can also purchase travel stockings and thrombosis medication for your return flight.
