To ensure smooth and reliable processing, airlines ask passengers to appreciate that the weight limits for baggage must be strictly observed. There are no international standards regarding the size and dimensions of hand luggage, which can vary depending on the airline, class and route.
Details regarding the baggage allowance can be found on your ticket, or else you can ask the airline.
Oversize baggage and animals
Oversize baggage (e.g. surfboards, musical instruments, bicycles, trunks) and animals are accepted, but you should ask the airline about the costs involved. Oversize baggage and animals must be checked in at the oversize baggage counter. Please enquire at the check-in as to how to proceed. Cats and small animals may be transported in your hand luggage. Please enquire in good time with your airline and note the veterinary and legal provisions.
You may take only one piece of hand luggage with you on board. As there are no international standards regarding the size and dimensions of hand luggage, you should enquire with the airline you are flying with.
To guarantee the highest possible security standards, special security regulations for hand luggage have been in force since November 2006 for all flights from the EU, Norway, Switzerland and Iceland. These regulations do not apply to purchases made at the airport as they are controlled items.
If you are missing items of luggage on arrival, proceed to the airline lost & found counter in the baggage claim hall. If you have mislaid something in the airport, proceed to the Vienna International Airport lost property office on level 0.
Porters are available on request during the hours of flight operation in the departure and arrivals halls.
Guests can make use of the left luggage service and safe deposit boxes for documents, keys, etc., that are not required on the trip.
On request, documents can also be deposited for collection by named persons.
Goods may also be deposited with customs.
Self-service luggage trolleys are available in all parts of the airport.
Detailed information and contact data can be found in the baggage service details.
Free shopping carts are available in the transfer area.
